Hi, I'm Ran.

I'm a Member of Technical Staff at OpenAI. Previously, I worked on machine learning and product at Instagram, and before that built NLP, search and recommendation systems at AWS AI labs (SageMaker and Kendra) and at startups.

I received my PhD from UW and commercialized my research through a hardware startup Elenion (acquired by Nokia). I hold 9 US patents and published more than 80+ papers on semiconductor and machine learning.

Outside work, I like to read and pursue hobbies including photography, cello, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and mechanical keyboards.
